Backcountry Travel and Avalanche Safety 4 Part

The backcountry has been a very dangerous place this season. With more deaths accompanying each new snow fall, it’s time to start taking things a bit more serious. Our friends over at freeskier.com magazine have put together an excellent 4 part series covering the essential everyone should know about diving into the deeps.
The first part covers the top 10 tips for traveling and treking in the backcountry. Part two looks into studying avalanche terrain and observing the conditions. Part there dives under the sluff preparing for avalanche burials and searching tips. Lastly, in part four they cover Digging Pits and looking for warning signs that the slope is unstable.
We want to see everyone safe while traveling in the backcountry, if it’s on a splitboard, or skis. If you haven’t taken a moment to educate yourself for just a minute or two please do, Live to Ride Another Day.
