The Burton Family Tree Freebird Splitboard is the standard from Burtons Splitboard lineup.  It’s perfect for seeking out the pilow lines and untracked powder.  With the Rocker Shape and Sintered base, it’s an awesome splitboard.

The Burton Freebird uses the Voile Split Kit for attaching bindings to the board and connecting the board back together with the standard pucks and base plates.

The flex of the board is very nice, it is springloaded to give it up to you when needed, but can remain stiff when traversing a side hill.  The board is an S-rocker shape that is camber underfeet, and big rocker in the nose.  This really helps to keep it out from under the deep powder when skinning, or decending.

It’s the perfect board for the backcountry, however I wouldn’t recomend spending any time on the resort groomers with this. It’s just to “planky”.

The board runs a true width with a directional shape. It also has something really nice that Burton does called 7mm Taper. That means that the front nose is wider than the tail, this was very helpful with trying to stay on top of the snow.  It floats so much easier, and is very surfy and floaty under feet.

Burton used it famous Super Fly II core which is light and powerful.  A good solid board is very important when snow conditions are unknown.  It also features the Dualzone wood core edges for extreme edge hold all the way through the tip and tail of the board.
